Hedgehog friendly accreditation

We're delighted that our Woodmeadow Walk project, based on Keele University Campus, has helped the University achieve platinum accreditation from the British Hedgehog Preservation Society for their efforts to create a ‘Hedgehog Friendly Campus’ .

The Woodmeadow Walk

The Woodmeadow Walk is our first place of happiness with the aim of creating habitats for wildlife like bees, butterflies and hedgehogs, improving biodiversity on Keele University campus, and becoming a happy place for the local Keele community to enjoy. Nurture volunteers and members of our local community came together to sow wildflower seeds and plant carefully selected wild orchard trees that will provide fruit for wildlife and to be picked by future generations.

Other things we've been working on

StEP walking event

Nurture CIC's and StEP's joint walking event at Keele University encouraged everyone, from students to staff to campus visitors, to discover our Woodmeadow walk and StEP’s walking route.

Nurture x Alsager Urban Wildlife

We're helping the Alsager Urban Wildlife Initiative to survey the Mere in Alsager, working on the second stages of the project to make sure nature and wildlife have a place in our local towns.

Planting and rewilding

In 2021 alone, Nurture CIC planted 52 trees, sewed 1000s of windflowers, and finished one sustainable #PlaceofHappiness for our local communities to enjoy.

A hedgehog- and bee- friendly campus

Nurture CIC isn’t just about people getting the most from nature, but also about caring for wildlife itself. So, we've teamed up with student societies, Grounds and Estates, and ambassadors at Keele University to make sure that the #PlacesofHappiness we create are happy for people and nature alike.

Nurture CIC x Keele University Art Competiton

Throughout history, the outdoors has offered a great escape during tough times. As we entered our third national lockdown, the Nurture project joined Keele University to encourage students to create with nature in mind, boosting morale over the challenging Christmas period…
